Hope and Writing - Give your characters voice

After many years I have come to the confounding realization that I am a writer.

What it means to be a writer differs with the tides and the fickle moods of men and gods.

Today, it means starting a blog and hoping. Hoping other souls afflicted with my malady will reach out here and cry, "Fear not! You toil in anonymity but not in vain. The song of every character you create will join in chorus and some sweet day, their choir will be heard."

And so I invite you, fellow travelers, to give your characters voice here, in this haven of hope and desperation.

Post your character quotations. Those quotes that define the print bound souls you wrote into obscure existence. Give them voice!

I ask only that you name them, give us a reference for the quote if needed, and let them speak.

In reading, in listening, may we laugh and cry and curse and yes, muster courage to write another day.

I started this mess. So I'll begin:

Louis Garabaldi, bagman for a crime boss, who lost the bag and now is trying to stay alive, says :

"Luck is the sure thing you never saw coming."

Brighty Burns, ex IRA militant turned bartender and father says:

"I traveled the world and ended up in the same place I started. And that was the only place I was trying to escape."
